WORLD MARATHON CHALLENGE – HALF WAY POINT!

3 Marathons on 3 Continents Done! Just 4 More To Go….

We’re sure you can imagine that the organisation of any kind of event, big or small, has many facets and moving parts that need to be taken into consideration. Now imagine planning the World Marathon Challenge, 7 marathons, on 7 continents, in 7 days. It must be a logistical nightmare! Transporting athletes across the globe in 7 days. Checking the weather to ensure flights can happen on time, making changes to the plan if the weather does effect travel. Feeding everyone on the plane, which is also where all athletes are living for the week of the challenge, and that’s just the most obvious stuff that we can think of off the top of our heads.

Sally’s challenge has already seen some changes to the plan.

Marathon 1 in Antarctica was brought forward as poor weather was forecast, which could have stopped the flight to Cape Town, South Africa, for the second marathon from happening. Sally completed the Antarctic Marathon in 5 hours and 56 minutes.

Marathon 2 in Cape Town, South Africa all went as it should. It was a shock to go from -25 degrees in Antarctica to 30 degrees in South Africa overnight though. Sally completed marathon 2 in 5 hours and 10 minutes. How incredible!

Marathon 3 in Perth, Australia was due to be on Thursday 2nd February, but had to be pushed back to today, Friday 3rd, due to permit issues with the plane. But just look at the smile on her face.
This means that going forward, to still get the challenge done in the 7 days, there will be some changes with marathon 5, in Madrid Spain, & marathon 6 in Fortaleza Brazil, both starting in the same 24 hrs on day 6. Wow!

We are so proud of Sally and what she is achieving. We know that she will get this challenge done and have raised awareness and funds for her seven chosen charities, and we are hugely grateful to be one of those being supported by her efforts.

Sally’s other six chosen charities are:
The Duke of Edinburghs Award (DofE)
The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA)
Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team (AFPST)
Ripple Suicide Prevention
Walking with the Wounded
Scotty’s Little Soldiers

If you can, please donate to Sally’s fundraiser, you will be supporting all seven charities. Donate HERE 😁💪
