GETTING KIDS MOVING SINCE 2010
The organisation was founded in 2010 by CEO Martine Verweij, with the simple aim to provide running and exercise opportunities for primary school children, both in school time and at weekends as well as school holidays.
It operated under the Kids Run Free brand name for a decade, before switching to Marathon Kids in time for the 2020/21 academic year. There are two flagship programmes for children; Marathon Kids Schools in term time, and Marathon Kids Parks at weekends and during the school holidays, both designed to give all children an opportunity to run, move and develop a passion for sport.
We are grateful to be supported by sporting behemoth Nike, and Marathon Kids athletes have been fortunate to have the likes of Sir Mo Farah, Mark Cavendish and David Weir at events in the past.
Hundreds of thousands of children have already benefited from the two programmes in the last 10 years.
