CORPORATE CHALLENGE
G’DAY MATE! ARE YOU READY TO LACE UP FOR THE BIG AUSSIE ‘WALKABOUT’!
Looking for a challenge? Looking to get your work colleagues or friends and family up and moving? Want to do all this whilst also donating to a national children’s charity?
Well we have just the challenge for you. Take on this incredible ‘walkabout’ and run, or walk the distance of Perth to Sydney Australia. That’s 2,450 miles or the equivalent of 93 marathons. Not possible you say. Of course it is, especially when you get a team together and all do your bit.
NIKKI LOVE’S WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT
For your inspiration we have our super human ambassador Nikki Love. Nikki will be attempting to break the current World Record in May 2023 by finishing in 63 days, the current record stands at 67 days, 2 hours and 57 minutes. Nikki, also known as ‘the girl that loves to run’, is a true believer that anything is possible and that people should ‘chase your extraordinary’. Her challenge to you is to finish your ‘walk about’ across Australia by the time she has finished hers and help her to raise an incredible Β£245,000 for Marathon Kids UK.
HOW THE CHALLENGE WORKS
The aim is to cover the distance between Perth and Sydney, following the route that Nikki will take on her World Record attempt, (2,450 miles) as a team.
All members of the team are challenged to complete 10,000 steps per day, the equivalent of 5 miles. These steps can be tracked throughout the day using a health tracker or smart phone app, and can include any mileage covered during exercise.
Distance covered by each team member is accumulated to give a total daily distance, such as –
Teams of 10 people:
- 10,000 steps per day per person (the equivalent of 5 miles per person, based on the 5 day working week)
- 50 miles per day as a team = 250 miles per week
- Perth to Sydney in 10 weeks!
THE BENEFITS OF TAKING ON THE RUN AUSTRALIA CHALLENGEΒ
- Completing 10,000 steps a day increases a persons Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (NEAT), which accounts for 15% of calories used each day
- Aerobic activity improves cardiovascular health
- Encourages people to be active during work breaks to help reduce stress and keep people mobile
- Bring people together and improve teamwork and encouragement in the workforce, as well as create healthy competition among teams!
