NATIONAL RUNNING SHOW – BIRMINGHAM
Getting the next generation running and keeping them going.
We had a fantastic day at the National Running Show Birmingham on Saturday 21st January. It was great to catch up with some familiar faces, and to meet new people and talk about our work and hear about all the amazing good things that are happening in the world to help support people to either keep active or become active.
Christopher, our Managing Director, had the pleasure of talking on the Inspiration Stage with a panel about inspiring children to run and keeping them going. He was joined by some truly amazing people, Kirk Bowyer from Mini Athletics, Kate Percy from Go Bites, and Nigel Green a physical education and physical literacy consultant.
All gave amazing insights into how to inspire the next generation, the top three tips being –
- Let children try lots of different activities to find what they like to do
- It must be fun, with incentives to aid participation
- It doesn’t have to be competitive
We are always so grateful to be given the opportunity to talk about our work on a bigger platform and to meet liked minded people.
If you have not been to the National Running Show before we definitely recommend it, it is the home of running after all. There are two events a year, one in Birmingham at the NEC and the second in Farnborough. You’ll find loads of top brand apparel and state of the art equipment to purchase, plenty of traders giving advice on nutrition, training and recovery, displays and talks throughout the weekend on their three stages, as well as amazing speakers from top athletes such as Steve Cram, Dina Asher-Smith, and Kriss Akabusi MBE, to inspiring individuals talking about their running journey and how they got started.
