MARATHON KIDS UK CELEBRATES 12TH BIRTHDAY

On Friday 9th December, we turned 12 years old.

It has been an incredible 12 years of operation. We began in 2010 as Kids Run Free, now trading as Marathon Kids UK. When we first began, we were a small charity on a big mission to activate young people to be more physically active through our activity sessions in parks.

Over the years, we grew in size, expertise and our passion to improve the health and well-being of young people never dwindled. This lead to us developing our programme to work in a primary school setting where we could reach many more children and their teachers to inspire a love of physical activity.

We have been fortunate to work with leading organisations such as Nike, ukactive, Youth Sport Trust, Akuma, The London Marathon and many more.

These 12 years of operation have seen us partner with Marathon Kids in the US, bring inspiring and totally amazing ambassadors into our team, and activate over 200,000 children in over 900 school and park locations since inception. Many of these are in socioeconomically deprived areas. Our focus has shifted from preventative measures towards proactively fighting back against childhood obesity and poor mental health in young people!

   

We wanted to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all of the organisations, individuals and families who wished us a happy birthday over the weekend. We would be unable to deliver our mission without your undying support.
