2,450 MILES IN 63 DAYS! NIKKI LOVE’S FEMALE WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT

Nikki Love – Run Australia Challenge

Our incredible Ambassador Nikki Love is an enthusiastic runner from Australia. Nikki grew up in the beautiful countryside of Geelong near Melbourne, Australia, and now shares her homeland with English folklore’s Robin Hood in Nottingham. Nikki has been running for many years and raising awareness and support for charities all across the UK. Nikki’s book The Girl Who Loves To Run is centred around her travels and was created to inspire young people to become more physically active through running. Nikki is about to embark on her biggest adventure yet, to run from Perth to Sydney in 63 days and set a female World Record. She hopes to raise £24,500 for Marathon Kids UK. As a running enthusiast, Nikki knows the importance of being healthy from a young age and wants to see the next generation grow up to be big and strong.

The Challenge

The Run Australia Challenge represents the next level of Nikki chasing her extraordinary. Starting in Perth on 1/5/23, Nikki is planning on running approximately 40 miles a day, until she reaches Sydney on 02/07/23. Nikki will be supported by her trusty support crew who will keep her fed, watered, and patched up, while also driving the motor-home that she will be living out of for the 9 weeks.

Each day Nikki is expecting to run for about 8 hours, dealing with heat, sand, heavy goods traffic, her thoughts, and the array of giant killer animals that exist in Australia before reaching her daily finish line where she will sleep in the motor-home, before setting off the next morning to repeat it all again!

Nikki is a huge believer in encouraging children to be active and regularly speaks at primary schools. She tells the children about where her feet have taken her, to inspire them to chase their own extraordinary, and show them they can do anything that they set their minds to.

Run Australia with Marathon Kids UK

This academic year, 2022/23, to celebrate the amazing efforts of Nikki we are challenging all Marathon Kids UK schools to take on the challenge of running the length of Australia. Schools can register to the Marathon Kids UK programme at any time and have until the end of the academic year to achieve the 2,450 miles or 3943 kilometres collectively as a school. We also ask that children fundraise £24.50 each to support Nikki in reaching her overall target. Register to Marathon Kids UK HERE.

Marathon Kids UK are also encouraging corporate teams to get involved, and get their steps in, by registering to the challenge in teams of ten. For £24.50 per person corporate teams are challenged to run or walk the full 2,450 miles over a ten week period. Each team member is challenged to clock up 50,000 steps per week, for ten consecutive weeks, once achieved everyone will receive a Marathon Kids UK medal.
